Thinking is overrated. Just because we need it to do be able to do things every day and even perform our most basic functions doesn't mean that we should have to use it every single minute that we breathe. When it comes down to it, brains need to evolve to have an off switch. We don't need to deal with this BS all the time, surely?

Unfortunately, humanity hasn't quite got that far yet. It would seem that we're too busy bickering amongst ourselves to figure out how to achieve the piece of no thoughts at all, preferring to overload ourselves with far too many.

That isn't to say that we don't have our ways of winding down all that synapse activity. While it might be overstimulating at times, the internet can be pretty good for that. Top of the list of mind numbing activities is memes. While we wait for everything else to catch up, at least we have these for distraction.
